The Chicago Sky have made a significant move in free agency, signing guard Chennedy Carter to a one-year, $64,154 contract. The deal includes an average annual salary of $64,154. Carter will earn $76,297 in 2024, while the Sparks will have to absorb her $86,701 protected salary if she goes unclaimed through waivers.
Carter, 23, is a rising star in the WNBA. In her first year out of Texas A&M, she averaged 17.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game in 2020. She earned a spot on the WNBA's All-Rookie Team and was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
Carter's signing is a major boost for the Sky, who are looking to contend for a championship in 2023. The Sky have a young and talented roster, led by All-Stars Kahleah Copper and Candace Parker.
